Update: Justin Schneider indicted for violent assault and kidnapping

Update from the Anchorage District Attorney’s Office:
On 8/15/17, the District Attorney’s Office indicted Justin Schneider (33-years-old) for kidnapping and assaulting a woman on 8/8/17 in Spenard. The grand jury indicted Schneider on four felony charges.
Kidnapping is an unclassified felony offense. If convicted of kidnapping, Schneider faces a sentence of five to 99 years in prison. A defendant’s sentence is determined by the judge who must consider the circumstances of the offense, the impact on the victim and the community, and the potential for rehabilitation of the defendant. The charges in the indictment are only allegations and are not evidence of guilt. The defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial at which the prosecution must prove his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
Schneider’s bail was set at $30,000 cash plus a court-approved third party custodian. His trial is scheduled before Superior Court Judge Michael Corey on November 6, 2017.
