Modesto, CA – A female driver was fatally injured following a collision with a stolen SUV.
Earlier this afternoon, officers responded to an injury collision on “L” and 7th Streets. When they arrived, they discovered that the occupants of a black Chevy SUV fled the area. The solo female driver in a red Mustang required immediate medical attention and was rushed to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
Initial reports suggest that the Chevy was traveling eastbound on L Street at 7th Street, ran through the red light and broadsided the Mustang which was traveling northbound on 7th. Both passengers and the driver of the Chevy fled the area on foot. Officers later discovered that the Chevy had been reported stolen to the California Highway Patrol.
Witnesses described the Chevy driver as a Hispanic or Black male adult in his 20’s, tall with a thin build. The two passengers were described as a Hispanic male and Hispanic female, both in their 20’s.
As a standard procedure, a comprehensive collision investigation has begun and is in the early stages. Officers are encouraging individuals who may have witnessed the collision or have information on the fleeing suspects to contact Officer Daniel Phillips at [email protected]. You can also provide information anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 209-521-4636.
