Advisory

Chula Vista Cool Zones listed in advance of upcoming heat wave.

Although today is fairly cool and overcast, our future weather forecasts are calling for a prolonged heat wave beginning Sunday through next week.

With extremely high temperatures predicted for the next several days, it is important to drink lots of water, avoid strenuous activities and stay in the shade as much as possible. Please don't forget your pets -- they need shade and extra water as well. And as a reminder, NEVER leave a child or a pet in a vehicle.

Several Chula Vista locations are designated Cool Zones including:
Norman Park Senior Center, 270 F Street, open 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Civic Center Branch Library, 365 F Street, and the South Branch Library at 389 Orange Avenue are open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday; and the Otay Ranch Branch Library located at the Otay Ranch Town Center, open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 12 to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
