Morning Update: Burbank evacuations, closures, and other important information related to the La Tuna Fire.
Good morning,
At about 10:00 PM last night, Burbank Police initiated a re-population effort to return all residents to their homes, lifting all evacuation orders. Unfortunately, the La Tuna Fire flared up near the homes in the Burbank Estates and Castleman Lane warranting a new evacuation order for certain streets and residences within the estates only.
Let's take a look at what's happening:
>> Evacuation orders are in place for Castleman Ln., Wedgewood Ln., Kildare Ct., Folkstone Ct., and Logan Ct.
>> Road closures are as follows:
Joaquin / Haven
Bel Aire / Vista Ridge
Scott Rd / Haven
Bel Aire / Amherst
Bel Aire / Cambridge
Groton / Stephen
Sunset Cyn / Walnut
Sunset Cyn / Harvard Rd
Country Club / Walnut
Keystone St / Lamer St
Wildwood Canyon area
>> McCambridge Park Recreation Center is the designated evacuation center, which is located at 1515 N. Glenoaks Blvd.
>> Burbank Police are now operating on a Department-wide, staggered 12.5 hours on/12.5 hours off schedule. Day watch just relieved night watch and has been deployed. We also have additional personnel assisting us from several other agencies in a mutual aid capacity.
>> "Looky Loos" will be turned away in the emergency operation areas and anyone contacted by the police is asked to follow all directions and orders. This is a matter of personal safety, the safety of the public, and the safety of emergency personnel, in addition to preventing the interference of emergency operations. Anyone interfering with the fire operation, or delaying/obstructing a police officer could face arrest.
>> Police officers will be in force within evacuated neighborhoods patrolling.
>> Please do not call the Burbank Police dispatch center for evacuation information. All evacuation areas and residents will be contacted directly, and information will be updated here throughout the day.
>> Burbank residents needing temporary boarding for small animals, can drop them off at the Burbank Animal Shelter. If possible, please provide a crate. Residents must have a valid Burbank ID. 1550 N. Victory Place. 818-238-3340
>> Follow us on Twitter and turn on Tweet notifications for @BurbankPD to receive alerts and other information about the fire.
We know this can be a very frightening time for residents and our community as a whole. We'd like to re-assure you that we are in this together, and we will get through it together. Burbank Police and Fire are with you every step of the way.
