Temple City Offers Free Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Training
Learn best practices in disaster preparedness, first aid, search and rescue, and fire safety, at free Community Emergency Response Team Training (C.E.R.T.) lead by the City’s public safety staff. Open to residents ages 18 years and older, courses will be presented as a series of two Saturday classes and one Sunday class, beginning on Saturday, October 21, 2017 and ending on Sunday, October 29, 2017. Training will be provided from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Temple City Council Chambers, 5938 Kauffman Avenue.
C.E.R.T. training will include a series of interactive activities that cover broad emergency response skills including search and rescue techniques, medical triage and disaster psychology.
Each course is designed to educated residents on Disaster Preparedness, CERT Organization, Disaster Psychology and Terrorism on October 21; Disaster Medical Operations 1 & 2 and Light Search and Rescue on October 28; Disaster Fire Safety on October 29. The final course will end with an interactive simulation exercise where participants form mock disaster response teams and learn how to search for and rescue victims of a major earthquake.
Those who attend the classes will receive Community Emergency Response Team training certification.
