LOCATION: Chestnut Street near Ensley Street, Howard City

The Montcalm County Sheriff’s Office received a report on September 14th of a suspicious person that was in the Howard City area the afternoon prior.
It was reported that a sixteen year old male was walking down Chestnut Street near Ensley at approximately 2:00 PM on Wednesday, September 13th when an older man stopped and asked him if he wanted a ride. The teenager did not know the man nor did he accept the offer.
The man was described as being in his fifties, grey hair, and having poor dental hygiene. The vehicle was described as a maroon or red minivan. The teenager was not able to obtain the registration plate and thought the vehicle may have been a Ford.
At this time, there are no other reports regarding this person, vehicle, or similar, recent events. The Sheriff’s Office would like to speak with the man to learn what his intentions were and is asking the public to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 989-831-7590 or on the tip line at 989-831-7593 if they see this vehicle or know who this man is.
Additionally, the Sheriff’s Office encourages the parents and caregivers of our children in the community to have a discussion with their children regarding personal safety and strangers.
