Debris Clean-up 9-15-17

On Thursday, Sept. 7th, the Harvey debris clean-up began. Initially, the focus is on the most heavily impacted areas. DRC, the City’s debris removal company, needs you to place your debris out on city right-of-way as close to the road as possible. In order to ensure that debris is picked up as quickly as possible, it is necessary to have materials separated. The debris should be placed in separate piles as follows:
1. Green Waste (limbs, tree branches, log, leaves, and vegetation);
2. Spoiled Food and Household Garbage;
3. Construction Debris (drywall, lumber, carpet, and furniture);
4. Appliances;
5. Electronics; and
6. Household Hazardous Materials
DRC will not pick-up debris placed in black garbage bags. The City recognizes that separation of debris may be an inconvenience, however, State and Federal laws/requirements must be met. In addition, vehicles parked in front of debris piles may prevent the contractor from picking up that location.

FEMA has notified the City that an inspection of debris is NOT A FEMA REQUIREMENT; they suggest homeowners take photos for their insurance or NFIP.

We ask for your cooperation and patience to complete the debris clean-up. If you have any questions about debris removal, DRC has set-up a Customer Hotline at (888) 721-4372. The City can be reached at 723-1541. The City Manager’s office can be reached at 723-1503.
