A Mother Bear and Her Cub Were Safely Returned Back to the Wild by The CA Department of Fish and Wildlife
On Friday, September 15, 2017, at approximately 10:00 a.m., Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 2500 Block of Cross Street, La Crescenta, regarding a call for a bear in a backyard.
When deputies arrived at the location, they saw a mother bear and her cub walking in the back yard of the residence. Shortly after, the deputies were able to contain the bears as they were walking between other residences on Cross Street.
After several hours, the mother bear and her cub eventually climbed a tree and began to sleep. The California Department of Fish and Wildilfe arrived and shot tranquilizer darts at both bears in order to safely control them.
Both bears were safely transported by California Fish and Wildlife personnel back into the wild where they live.
