Modesto, CA – Officers are investigating a traffic collision that claimed the life of a Modesto man.
Wednesday afternoon, officers responded to a report of a vehicle collision with someone pinned in a vehicle at the intersection of Carver Road and Briggsmore Avenue.
The early investigation indicates that an Infinity G35 was driving northbound on Carver when it appears it ran a red light at Briggsmore Avenue and was broadsided by a Dodge Dakota that was traveling eastbound on Briggsmore Avenue. The 45-year-old driver of the Infinity was pinned in, and while alert and talking during his extrication, later died at the hospital.
As standard practice in a fatal vehicle collision, the Modesto Police Department Traffic Unit has initiated a comprehensive collision investigation. This investigation is in the early stages and witness statements and physical evidence is being thoroughly evaluated before any collision factor or cause will be determined. It does not appear that drugs or alcohol were a factor in the collision.
