Debris Cleanup Continues
CITY OF NEDERLAND
PUBLIC NOTICE –
HARVEY DEBRIS CLEAN-UP & TRASH SERVICE
September 26, 2017
On Wednesday, Sept. 6th, the Harvey debris clean-up began in conjunction with the 3 mid-county cities sharing 13 trucks. The City prioritized the areas with the greatest damage and concentration of debris piles and has created a list of piles in other areas of the City. Unfortunately, Hurricane Irma increased the demand for debris trucks and the 13 trucks went down to 10 trucks to 5 trucks to 3 trucks as these sub-contractors left for Florida. Recognizing this is not sufficient to complete the debris clean-up operation, the City has re-purposed its trash truck fleet to debris clean-up supporting the debris contractor’s remaining trucks. The City’s trash trucks will run 12-hour shifts, 7 days a week until the debris operation is completed. However, this delays regular trash and green waste service. We ask for your patience as we attempt to complete the debris clean-up with the resources reality posed by two significant hurricanes weeks apart.
If you have a trash or green waste pile that has been in front of your home for over two weeks, please call the Solid Waste Department at 723-1541; a work order will be prepared to collect the pile as quickly as possible.
If you have any questions or complaints in regards to the City’s debris clean-up operation, please call the City Manager’s Office at 723-1503.
