It is with great pleasure that we announce the promotion of Officer Cliff Thomas to the rank of Sergeant. The promotion became effective today with approval by the Board of Public Works and Safety. Sgt. Thomas will supervise the midnight shift beginning in October 2017. Sgt. Thomas accumulated the most points during the latest promotional process, which placed emphasis on a written test, tenure, past evaluations and a board interview. Sgt. Thomas has been employed with the City of Bluffton since 2001, and with the police department since 2007. Sgt. Thomas will remain active in his roles as a Crisis Intervention Team member, child abuse investigator, and a defensive tactics instructor. Sgt. Thomas resides in Bluffton with his wife and two children. Please join us in congratulating newly promoted Sgt. Cliff Thomas!
