Rosemead Town Hall Meeting addressing "Cyber Briefing and Internet Safety Awareness"
THE PUBLIC SAFETY CONNECTIONS FORUM INVITES PARENTS, GUARDIANS AND TEENAGERS TO A TOWN HALL MEETING ON “CYBER BRIEFING AND INTERNET SAFETY AWARENESS.”
Rosemead, CA - The City of Rosemead’s Public Safety CONNECTIONS Forum, together with Southern California Edison’s Division of Cybersecurity and IT Compliance, will be hosting a “Cyber Briefing and Internet Safety Awareness” Town Hall Meeting on Thursday, September 28, 2017 from 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm at the Rosemead High School Auditorium, 9063 E. Mission Drive, Rosemead.
In the 21st Century, we are more interconnected than ever before. But for all its advantages and conveniences, increased connectivity brings increased risk of theft, fraud, and abuse. As we become more reliant on modern technology, we also become more vulnerable to cyberattacks such as corporate security breaches, spear phishing, and social media fraud.
The Public Safety CONNECTIONS Forum wants to provide the community with a better understanding of the dangers that come with technology, and of how to avoid becoming a victim of cyber-crime. Keynote Speaker Mike Lattimore, from Southern California Edison’s Division of Cybersecurity and IT Compliance, will address cyber bullying, social media, mobile device security, protection strategies, and other important issues.
This Town Hall Meeting is highly recommended if you own or use a cell phone, computer, or any other technological devices. All ages are welcome, but we especially encourage teenagers, whose vital connections to social media make them among the most vulnerable.
The Public Safety CONNECTIONS Forum incorporates the City of Rosemead, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, local school districts, and other community organizations and individuals who are committed to educating parents, grandparents, and other caregivers of their responsibilities to help young people make healthy life choices, and providing them with more tools to do so.
The CONNECTIONS Forums are held on the last Thursday of each month, at the City of Rosemead’s Public Safety Center, 8301 E. Garvey Ave., Rosemead. This special event is part of Rosemead Public Safety’s ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of life in Rosemead.
