Yermo Elementary School Placed on Lock-Down, Law Enforcement made sure school was safe and was reopened

INCIDENT: Yermo Elementary School Incident
LOCATION: 38000 block of Gleason Street, Yermo
SUMMARY: On October 2, 2017, at about 1:21 p.m., deputies from the Barstow Station, along with officers from the California Highway Patrol, responded to Yermo Elementary School regarding a subject seen outside the school grounds with a gun. Law enforcement personnel arrived on scene and conducted an extensive search of the school and surrounding neighborhood while the school was locked-down for the safety of all students and staff. The school staff worked well with law enforcement during the incident to ensure the safety of the children and staff members. Law enforcement personnel were unable to locate any evidence to validate the report made by the student. Sheriff’s department personnel will continue to do extra patrol in the area to help alleviate any concerns or tensions our residents may have referenced this incident.
