On 10/04/17, at approximately 6:30 PM, an officer from the Angels Camp Police Department was on patrol when he observed a vehicle with a modified and illegible front license plate. The officer stopped the vehicle near the intersection of Murphys Grade Road and Rolleri Bypass Road, and a records check revealed that the driver of the vehicle is on searchable probation out of Stanislaus County.
Prior to the probation search the driver admitted that there was a loaded firearm in the vehicle that he was carrying for his protection. A subsequent probation search revealed a loaded 40 caliber pistol, loaded with 15 rounds of ammunition, as well as approximately one (1) pound of crystal methamphetamine in a plastic one gallon zip lock bag. The pistol was contained inside of a bag on the front passenger seat, and the methamphetamine was inside of a paper bag behind the front passenger seat.
Martin Lorenzo Jr., a 46 year old Modesto resident, was arrested for charges related to transporting a controlled substance for sales, possession of narcotics while armed, and being a felon in possession of a firearm. He was booked into the Calaveras County Jail for the charges, and the vehicle was towed to the Angels Camp Police Department for further processing.
