Juvenile arrested for threats involving a school
On Saturday, October 7, 2017, a Gilroy High School student posted a photo of a rifle and ammunition on “Snapchat.” The photo contained the text, “No one show up to school on Monday.” The posting was reported to the Gilroy Police Department.
Gilroy Police diligently investigated the incident and located the juvenile responsible. The rifle and ammunition used in the photograph were located and determined to be realistic replicas. The involved juvenile apologized for his actions and said it was meant to be a joke.
The Gilroy Police Department partners with the Gilroy Unified School District to make school safety a priority. Threats over social media are taken very seriously, especially when they involved our schools. Unfortunately for those who decide to commit these crimes, they leave an obvious digital trail for investigators to follow.
The juvenile was arrested and booked into the Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall for criminal threats.
