400+ Fowl Used in Illegal Cockfighting Seized During Warrant Search, Lancaster
As part of a continuing animal cruelty investigation involving the breeding and fighting of game fowl, deputies assigned to the Community Partnerships Bureau of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department served two search warrants in the 8800 block of Pillsbury Avenue in Lancaster today. At approximately 9:00 A.M., over 400 game fowl believed to be used in illegal “cock fighting” events were found at the location.
Personnel from the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control aided by members of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Los Angeles, responded to the location in order to examine and care for the animals.
Several people were detained at the locations and although no arrests have been made at this time, the investigation is still ongoing.
