Full Notification

On October 11, 2017 at approximately 0115 hours, the Signal Hill Police Department received multiple calls for a traffic accident in the area of Cherry Avenue and E. Spring Street.  Upon arrival, SHPD officers observed that 3 vehicles were involved in the collision.  Multiple occupants were transported to local hospitals with varying severity of injuries.  At this time, one motorist has been pronounced deceased at the scene.  The decedent’s identity is being withheld pending notification of their family.
 
Due to the collision investigation, the following roadways are closed and will remain closed to ensure the circumstances of the collision are investigated thoroughly:

• Northbound Cherry Avenue at E. 29^th Street
• Eastbound E. Spring Street at Gardena Avenue
• Westbound E. Spring Street at the 405 Freeway
• Southbound Cherry Avenue at the 405 Freeway

This collision occurred on the boarder of several jurisdictions so Signal Hill Police is being assisted by both the Long Beach Police Department and the California Highway Patrol.
