Smoke in the area is from Northern California Fires, no threat to Truckee. WIND is increasing local FIRE DANGER
Smoke will continue to blow into our area over the next few weeks from the many fires burning in Northern California. Currently there is no threat to Truckee or the area.
However, fire danger is increasing with the winds. Wind is expected to continue on and off through the end of the week. Fires that start in windy conditions are difficult to control.
No open burning - burn ban is in effect, be careful with hot tools like weed eaters and chainsaws and make sure campfires are dead out. Call 911 to report smoke.
Always have a plan for evacuation. What will you bring? What are the ways out of your neighborhood? Once the fire starts there is no time to waste, get out quickly!
