The City of Novato, the Novato Police Department, and the Novato Fire Protection District are working in close partnership to actively monitor the fire activity in Sonoma and Napa counties and any potential threats to Novato. While we do not anticipate any need for evacuations in Novato we always want our residents to be prepared if an evacuation order is given. Earlier today we had the opportunity to visit a number of churches in Novato that are serving as shelters and places of refuge for many victims of the North Bay fires. The outpouring of generosity and commitment by the Novato community is amazing. We continue to be impressed by how our community has come together to roll up their sleeves and help friends and strangers alike. We heard stories of local restaurants providing meals, businesses donating supplies, and fitness centers opening their doors for shower facilities. Meeting the victims and hearing their stories was humbling. We couldn’t be more proud of the Novato community for warmly welcoming evacuees and demonstrating what makes Novato so special. The Novato proud spirit has never been stronger.

The Novato Police Department and Novato Fire Protection District continue to provide personnel to the North Bay fires as part of fire and law enforcement mutual aid efforts. We also want to emphasize that while these efforts are continuing, both departments remain fully staffed in Novato and under normal operations. We are prepared to respond to any emergencies in Novato.

While we do not anticipate any need for evacuations in Novato, we are continuing to work closely with City staff to actively monitor the fire activity in Sonoma and Napa Counties and any potential threats to Novato.
