Injury Traffic Collision Results In DUI Arrest
On October 12, 2017, at about 7:19 PM officers with the Anderson Police Department were dispatched to a report of a two vehicle traffic collision that occurred in the 5000 block of Rhonda Rd.
Upon arrival on scene officers found that the two vehicles involved, a green Honda Accord, and a silver Pontiac Grand Am, were still in the roadway.
Three juveniles from the Pontiac were found to have sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate, with one of them being transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment.
The driver of the Honda, Niria Lozoya, age 36 of Cottonwood, initially lied to officers about her involvement in the collision, and claimed to not be the driver. Multiple witness statements obtained at the scene placed Lozoya behind the wheel of the Honda at the time of the collision. Lozoya then admitted to being the driver of the vehicle.
Lozoya displayed objective symtpoms of recent alcohol consumption, and was found to be driving on a suspended driver's license. A DUI investigation was conducted and Lozoya was placed under arrest for DUI with injury.
Lozoya was booked into the Shasta County Jail on a charge of felony DUI with injury, as well as driving on a suspended driver's license and providing false information to a peace officer.
The juveniles injured in the collision are in stable condition and are be treated at local medical facilities.
