On Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at approximately 10:00am, Hope Mills Police Officers responded to the 2000 block of Sir Michael Drive in reference to a residential break-in that had just occurred. Upon arrival, Officers were unable to locate the suspect in the area and the case was forwarded to the Hope Mills Police Department Detective Division for further investigation. During the course of their investigation, Detectives developed information that Steven Lee Nicholas Dawkins, 25, of the 6300 block of Rustic Ridge, was responsible for the break-in on Sir Michael Drive and that he was also possibly responsible for other break-ins in the area. On the afternoon of Thursday, October 12, 2017, Detectives and Officers from the Hope Mills Police Department located Dawkins and took him into custody without incident. Dawkins was transported to the Cumberland County Detention Center where he was jailed under a $20,000.00 bond for the following charges:

1 Felony Count of Breaking and Entering
1 Felony Count of Larceny after Breaking and Entering
1 Felony Count of Possession of Stolen Goods
1 Felony Count of Obtaining Property by False Pretense

This investigation is ongoing and more charges against Dawkins are possible.
