The Analy Evacuation Center for able-bodied evacuees is closing at noon today - down to 11 people
Dear Friends,
The Analy High School Evacuation Center remains operational with approximately 33 evacuees. Those with special medical or other needs (about 22) are lodged in the Small Gym and others (about 11) are lodged in the Larger Gym. The Analy Evacuation Center telephone number is 329-6524.
After consultation with the City of Santa Rosa and the County of Sonoma E.O.C.'s, as well as the Red Cross, we will be closing the larger gym housing able-bodied people by noon. Two of the remaining evacuees may be transferred to the shelter at the Finley Center in Santa Rosa. The others have identified other locations.
The small gym will remain up and operational through Saturday at noon unless conditions warrant otherwise.
The California National Guard has a presence at Analy High School, Hessel Church and St. Stephen's Church. They are there to provide logistical support. They will be tasked with taking down over 400 cots this afternoon.
At this point, the Analy Evacuation Center DOES NOT need any more donations of anything. They have stopped accepting donations. The small number of needs are being routed through the E.O.C. The Community Disaster Response Team is sorting the donations they've received so they can eventually be transferred to the Santa Rosa shelters.
The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for tonight night into early Saturday morning, when the winds on the slopes and ridges above 1,000 feet should reach 25-35 MPH with some gusts up to 45 MPH or higher, especially in the very early hours of Saturday morning.
P.G.&E is still working to restore power and gas service to locations where it is safe to do so.
The four distinct fires in the Sonoma Valley area have merged into one fire, now called called the Nuns Fire. There is also the Tubbs Fire around Santa Rosa and the Pocket Fire near Geyserville.
For the most up-to-date information on the fires, call 565-3856 or visit www.sonomacounty.ca.gov.
A Local Assistance Center will be established at the old Press Democrat building at 427 Mendocino Avenue by tomorrow.
The Sebastopol Community Church is NO LONGER serving as an Evacuation Center.
Hessel Church are St. Stephen's Church are open and willing to accept evacuees. I can't speak to their capacities or their future plans.
