(Etowah County, Alabama) Two individuals have been arrested in connection to the theft of property, according to Sheriff Todd Entrekin.

“Geoffrey Sean Pierce, 46, and Shanna J. Sarchet, 46, both of Anniston, are each charged with two counts of third degree theft by deception, one count of third degree attempted theft by deception and one count of fourth degree theft of property,” investigator Brian Smith said.

Pierce and Sarchet allegedly paid for equipment, from Ag-Pro Gadsden, with a check from a closed account. The duo was caught after employees from the store recognized Pierce as a person of interest in similar cases at other Ag-Pro stores in the area.

When the suspects left the Gadsden store they were apprehended on a traffic stop by Sgt. Steve Griffin, Deputy Chris Smith and Investigator Stephen McGlathery. Power tools and various other stolen items were found inside the vehicle. All property has been returned to the rightful owners.

Pierce is currently being detained in the Etowah County Detention Center without bond.

Sarchet was booked into the Etowah County Detention Center and later released on $6,500 bond.
