Hockley County Sheriff's Office calls for service and activities for Friday, 10/20/17, through Sunday, 10/22/17.

Good Monday morning! The following are calls for service and activities for the Sheriff’s Office for Friday, 10/20/17, through Sunday, 10/22/17.

10/20/17

-Chickadee Rd at Zebra Rd, Locketville: Suspicious Activity. Deputies were notified of an individual possibly armed with a firearm near the runway at the Locketville Gin. Deputies met with the complainant, who advised a male subject was armed and acting suspicious. The area was checked and the vehicle was no longer in the area. Deputies were informed the vehicle was last seen traveling into Terry County. Information was forwarded to the appropriate agency.

-500 blk FM 1490, Levelland: Check Welfare. A deputy responded to a residence to check welfare of a resident. Multiple attempts to contact individuals were made. No one was at the residence.

-FM 301 near Wildcat Rd, Sundown: Burglary. A complainant met with deputies related to a burglary of a building in the area. Multiple items were reported stolen and a report is pending. The matter is under investigation.

-1800 blk 9th St, Levelland: Assist Levelland Pd. Deputies were dispatched to assist the PD with a fight in progress. A deputy transported one individual to the jail for officers.

-Hwy 114 at Alamo Rd, Levelland: Deputies were notified of a reckless driver in the area entering Levelland. The area was checked and the vehicle that was described was not located.

-Hwy 114 near El Paso Rd, Levelland: Reckless Driver. A deputy responded to attempt to locate a possible reckless driver on Hwy 114 traveling toward Levelland. The area was checked and the vehicle was not located.

10/21/17

-Caribou Ln at Hwy 385, Levelland: Loose Livestock. Deputies were notified of loose cattle in the area. The area was checked and no loose cattle were observed. All were found to be secured.

-Hwy 114 at FM 303, Levelland: Unattended Vehicle. A deputy stopped to check on a vehicle left parked along the roadway in the area. The vehicle was secure, off the roadway, and personnel would follow-up.

-Hwy 114 at FM 168, Smyer: Reckless Driver. A deputy was dispatched to the area to attempt to locate a reckless driver in the area. The area was checked and the vehicle described was not located.

-Equalilzer Rd at Hwy 385, Levelland: Check Welfare. A deputy stopped and contacted a female walking along the highway in the area. He stayed on scene and released her to a family member who arrived to pick her up.

-Hwy 385 at FM 301, Sundown: Vehicle Crash. A deputy assisted on scene after being dispatched to the area regarding a cow being struck by a vehicle. The deputy assisted until the roadway was cleared.

-7th St at Slaughter, Sundown: Assist Sundown PD. A deputy stopped to assist a Sundown officer on a traffic contact. The deputy later transported one individual to the jail for the Sundown PD.

10/22/17

-US 62/82 at Hockley Main, Ropesville: Suspicious Activity. A deputy was dispatched to check on a vehicle parked in the area. While en route a complainant advised the deputy someone was driving the vehicle recklessly in a parking area. The deputy contacted the driver, who advised he stopped while headed back to New Mexico after visiting friends in Lubbock. No offenses were observed and the individual was released.

-County Rd at Sunrise Ln, Levelland: Loose Livestock. A deputy was dispatched to locate loose horses in the area. The horses were located and secured.

-2400 blk Canary Ln, Levelland: Assist EMS. A deputy responded to assist at a residence related to an individual who had an injury. The individual later went to the ER for treatment.

-Hartford Rd at Mexico Rd, Levelland: Gas Leak. A deputy was dispatched to the area to attempt to locate a gas leak. The Fire Department also responded. No leak was found.

-400 blk Avenue K, Levelland: Shots Fired. A deputy responded to assist PD with a call in the area. One individual was taken into custody by PD officers and transported to the jail. Levelland PD is investigating the incident.

-200 blk Hicks, Levelland: Civil Issue. A deputy responded to a call of a child custody issue. One of the parents had court papers outlining visitation. Civil remedies were advised and individuals were advised to consult with their respective attorneys.

-Hwy 114 at Kelly Rd, Levelland: Shots Fired. A deputy was notified of shots fired in the area. The area was checked and no one was located. No further calls were received.

-6900 blk Elephant Rd, Smyer: Check Welfare. A deputy responded to a residence after receiving a call from Lubbock about an employee who did not arrive at work. The occupant was located and was not feeling well. No suspicious circumstances were observed. The individual later went to Lubbock to work.

-6500 blk Oxen Rd, Ropesville: Suspicious Activity. Deputies were dispatched to a residence in the area related to individuals possibly trying to break into the residence. The complainants were contacted and no evidence was observed of anyone in the area, or attempted forced entry.

Deputies also conducted close patrols/vacation watches, patrols in areas of the county, investigative follow- up activities, and civil process service.

Jail population as of 10/22/17 at 0800 hours: 53 in Hockley County, 3 to be processed, 13 out-of-county.
