Newberry County Coroner’s Office along with the South Carolina Highway Patrol are investigating a single motorcycle collision which occurred near 22134 US 76 in Newberry County on October 22, 2017 at approximately 3:28 pm.
According Coroner Laura Kneece, the 58 year old rider of a Suzuki GSX 1300R, has been identified as Mr. Sherman Elkins, of Newberry, was pronounced on scene.
An autopsy was performed on October 23, 2017, concluded Mr. Elkins died of Blunt Force Injury of the Head due to the Motorcycle Collision. Mr. Elkin was wearing a helmet.
This incident remains under investigation by Newberry County Coroner’s Office and South Carolina Highway Patrol.
