Promoting Prison Contraband Arrest
(Etowah County, Alabama) A Gadsden man was been arrested in connection to promoting prison contraband (illegal drugs), according to Sheriff Todd Entrekin.
“Maverick Lee Scott Wright, 35, of Gadsden, is charged with one count of second degree promoting prison contraband and one count of possession of salvia, both are felonies,” DEU agent Jeremy Lasseter said.
Wright was spotted outside the Etowah County Detention Center by detention deputies Jeremy Johnson and James Barron after they received information that someone was attempting to get a package of drugs inside the facility. When the suspect saw deputies Johnson and Barron, a foot chase ensued in the area of the Sheriff’s Office. Wright was taken into custody near the intersection of Forrest Avenue and 9th Street.
Wright is currently being detained in the Etowah County Detention Center on $5,000 bond.
