There will be Search & Rescue K9 training in the Shumont area beginning tomorrow through Friday evening. Number of participants will vary from day to day but average 10-12. No personnel involved should be within close proximity to homes unless the owner has given prior authorization. Residents may see personnel along roadways, in fields or woods. Occasionally you may even see someone hiding in different areas but if they’re doing their best you shouldn’t see them :). Thank you in advance to all those who have given permission to use their property.
It’s not confirmed yet if the department will get to deploy our UAS (drone) during this event. Those in the area may see it occasionally if time and personnel availability allow.
We will have an overnight guest at the Shumont station all week who is the instructor. John Salem is with Georgia K9 and is a retired police officer with over 30 years handling K9s some of which were cases making worldwide headlines. Feel free to drop by and welcome him to our community.
