Modesto, CA – One child was fatally wounded and another was treated at a local hospital following a drive by shooting in the northeast area of town.

At about 9:45 last night, officers responded to a 9-1-1 call of a child shot in the 1400 block of Lake Park Court. Life-saving measures were performed on the 5 year at the scene; however, he later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

Witnesses in the area said another child was shot and taken to a local hospital by family. Officers contacted the 6 year old boy’s family and determined his injuries to be non-life threatening.

As detectives continue to piece together the events that led to the shooting, the early information suggests the victims were amongst a couple of groups of individuals gathered in front of the residence when they were shot. The suspect(s) involved have not been identified and a motive for the shooting has not been determined.
