An alleged non-compliant registered sex offender was taken into custody by the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office just be for 10:30 am on 11/07/2017. 35 year old Robert R. Ruppert was arrested and booked into the Steuben County Jail following an investigation by Sheriff’s detectives into allegations that Ruppert failed to report required information to the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office Sex and Violent Offender Registry within the lawful time period. The allegations were received during the late afternoon hours of 11/06/2017. Ruppert was charged with one count of level 6 felony failure to register as s sex or violent offender and one count of level 5 felony failure to register as a sex or violent offender with a previous conviction. Ruppert remains held in lieu of a $5,000.00 bond and is expected to appear in court later today.
