K-9 Aero Assists In Apprehension After Pursuit
On November 18, 2017, at about 02:28 AM an Officer with the Anderson Police Department observed a white Lexus sedan driving in the Walmart parking lot. The vehicle had a Toyota emblem on the hood and all Lexus badging removed from the rear of the vehicle.
The Officer conducted a records check on the license plates on the vehicle, and found that they belonged on a Dodge pickup.
The Officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, however the driver, Carla Denise Bledsoe, age 31, of Redding, failed to yield to the Officer's emergency lights.
A pursuit ensued and Bledsoe entered the wrong lane of traffic on Pleseant HIlls Dr. and began driving eastbound.
Bledsoe then proceeded northbound on Highway 273 reaching speeds of 80 MPH.
In the area of Highway 273 and Thomas Ave. Bledsoe crossed into the opposing lane of traffic and began driving northbound in the southbound lanes of Highway 273.
The vehicle continued at slow speeds until it came to a stop in the area of Highway 273 and Whitehouse Dr. from apparently running out of fuel.
Bledosoe and her passenger, Jericho Lee Johnson, age 38, of Redding, failed to follow officers commands to exit the vehicle. Instead they began attempting to re-start the vehicle, however it did not start.
Both Bledsoe and Johnson refused to get out of the vehicle. With the assistance of K-9 Aero, Officers approached the vehicle to remove both subjects.
Bledsoe continued failing to follow Officers commands to exit the vehicle and get on the ground. Officers deployed K-9 Aero to apprehend Bledsoe and take her into custody. K-9 Aero assisted Bledsoe to the ground where she was secured into handcuffs.
A search of the vehicle revealed a fake handgun, methamphetamine pipes, and marijuana. The vehicle's ignition had also been tampered with and started with a set of plyers.
A records check revealed Bledsoe to have a no bail warrant for her arrest out of Shasta County. Johnson was found to have multiple felony warrants for his arrest out of Siskiyou County.
Bledsoe was arrested on her warrants as well as evading a peace officer, evading a peace officer the wrong way on a highway, resisting arrest, false evidence of registration, and driving on a suspended driver's license. Johnson was arrested on his warrants.
Prior to booking Bledsoe was transported to a local area hospital for treatment from the canine apprehension.
The Anderson Police Department would like to the thank the Shasta County Sheriff's Office and the California Highway Patrol Helicopter for their assistance in the pursuit.
