Subject Arrested for Prowling and Public Intoxication, Angels Camp Police Department Case # 17-0784
On November 17, at approximately 2:30 AM, an officer from the Angels Camp PD was dispatched to a report of a male subject that was in the back yard of a residence, in the 800 block of Smith Flat Road. The reporting party advised that her husband noticed someone standing outside their bedroom window, in their back yard, as he was getting ready for bed. The home owner went outside to confront the subject, and the arriving officer found the reporting party's husband and the suspect in the back yard of the residence.
Dalton Mitchell, a 23 year old Mountain Ranch resident, was taken into custody for the following violations;
1) 647(h) of the CA Penal Code-Loitering or Prowling on Private Property
2) 647(f) of the CA Penal Code-Public Intoxication
3) 11550(a) of the CA Health & Safety Code-Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance
While in this case the suspect was cooperative with the home owner, the Angels Camp Police Department would like to caution the public about confronting people that are under the influence of drugs. Their behavior can be very unpredictable, and it is almost always better to observe them from a distance and wait for the police to respond, if at all possible.
