(Etowah County, Alabama) A Gadsden man has been arrested in connection to burglary and theft, according to Sheriff Todd Entrekin.

“Derek Allen Garmany, 24, of Gadsden, is charged with one count of third degree burglary and one count of first degree theft of property,” investigator Brain Smith said.

Garmany allegedly broke into a residence on Tidmore Bend Road. When deputies arrived, he ran from the house into the woods. After a brief search, Garmany was taken into custody.

He was booked into the Etowah County Detention Center and later released on $12,500 bond.

Items taken from the residence were recovered and returned to the rightful owner.
