A Water outage is planned for an area near McDowell Place and Union Avenue tonight. 
A water outage is planned for an area between Union Avenue and W. Conway Avenue, and between Gandy Lane and Apple Cross Place this evening.
Residential and business customers will experience the outage from about 10 p.m. this evening until 1 a.m. tomorrow, so crews with the City of Las Cruces Water Section can replace a broken valve and repair a leak. This outage should only affect about 25 customers.
Area residents may notice discolored water due to iron and manganese. Although the water is safe to drink, City officials recommend waiting to wash laundry until after the water becomes clear.
The discoloration should disappear within 24 hours. If it does not, residents should flush outside and/or cold-water faucets in the house for five minutes. If the discoloration remains, call the City at 526-0500 for assistance.
