Holiday festivities and programs are planned for the Chula Vista Library branches in December. Visits from Santa, gift wrap swaps, Christmas and winter storytimes and craft sessions, and even cupcake decorating are scheduled, and all programs are free of charge. - Gift Wrap Swap, Mondays and Saturdays in December, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Patrons can donate their extra gift wrap and supplies, and swap them for donated supplies.

- Kids’ S.T.E.A.M., Peppermint Rice Krispies, Wednesday, December 6, 4:30-6 p.m.

- Mindful Matters Workshop (adults), Mindful meditation and purposeful holiday gift giving, Sunday, December 10, 3:30-4:30 p.m.

- San Diego Ballet Presents Excerpts from The Nutcracker, Saturday, December 9, 2 p.m.

- Christmas Lantern Crafternoon for Kids, Tuesday, Dec 19, 4:30 p.m.

- Visit from Santa! Tuesday, December 19, 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Featuring games, songs, prizes and special guests.

- Elf on the Shelf, December 1-23. Children – find “Reed,” the library’s Elf on the Shelf, hidden in the library, and receive a treat at the Children’s Desk.

- Gift Wrap Swap, Monday, December 4, 11 and 18, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Patrons can donate their extra gift wrap and supplies, and swap them for different supplies.

- Upcycle Workshop: Gift Making (adults), Wednesday, December 13, 5:30 p.m. Registration required: [email protected]

- Holiday Fun Fest! Tuesday, December 12, 5:00 p.m. Featuring live-action story, games, crafts and a visit from jolly old Saint Nick.

- Children’s DIY Ornament Craft, Tuesday, December 19, 5:00 p.m. Make festive ornaments to trim your tree.

- Seasonal Science Experiments (children), Wednesdays at 5:00 p.m. Experiment with the science of winter and holidays.

- Domestic Divas, Thursday, December 7, 5:30 p.m. (adults). Craft a holiday table decoration.

- Season of Giving DIY, Tuesday, December 12 and 19, 4:00 p.m. Make a personalized gift for someone special.

- Holly Jolly Dance Party Storytime, Tuesday, December 19, 11:15 a.m. Dance to your favorite seasonal songs.

- Winter Wonderland Storytime, Thursday, December 21, 11:15 a.m. Celebrate the Winter Solstice.

- Make a Bamboo Parol, Thursday, December 21, 5-7 p.m. Make a traditional star-shaped lantern. Hosted by the House of Philippines in Balboa Park.
