Vandalism Series Arrest
During November, 2017, Machado Park has experienced incidents of vandalism by tagging to city property. Most of the tagging has been similar in style and nature, and evidence shows it is likely the work of one small group of individuals. Through an investigation into the crimes, officers assigned to the Lake Elsinore Police Department’s Problem Oriented Policing Team identified a male juvenile as one of the primary subjects responsible for the vandalisms. On November 28, 2017, the Problem Oriented Policing Officers made a check of the park for further evidence, and saw the juvenile, whom they had previously identified as a suspect, in the act of defacing a city park bench. The juvenile was arrested for the vandalisms. The juvenile was released to his parents pending criminal charges.
This investigation is continuing. Anyone with information regarding these incidents is asked to contact Officer Parrish of the Lake Elsinore Police Department at (951) 245-3300.
