Active Shooter Drill Set for Wednesday
(Etowah County, Alabama) An active shooter drill will take place Wednesday morning at the Etowah County Judicial Center and Courthouse.
The exercise will simulate an active shooter inside the buildings. A full law enforcement response will take place. The drill is a continuation of Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response (ALERRT) training and Run, Hide, Fight training taught by the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office.
The judicial center and courthouse will be closed to the public from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 6, during the simulation.
“Every day, in this country, there is an active shooter situation in a public place,” says Sheriff Todd Entrekin. “Since 2013, we have trained law enforcement officers, teachers, those in businesses and the medical field to be prepared in case an event of this type happens in our community.”
Sheriff Entrekin continues, “We hope no one ever has to use this training but, want everyone to be ready for whatever situation arises.”
