Santa Ana Winds, Red Flag Warning, and Week Long Fire Potential
The San Diego National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning from 3 a.m. Monday, December 4, to 12 a.m. Friday, December 8. The Red Flag Warning has been issued due to strong gusty winds and low humidity. Winds will be 20-35 mph with gusts up to 65 mph. This Red Flag Warning is especially concerning since we have not had any appreciable rainfall yet this winter season. Strong winds, a dry air mass, and warming temperatures into the high 70s/low 80s will create favorable conditions for brushfires.
The Chula Vista Fire Department is asking all residents and visitors to please be cautious and aware of fire potential this week, especially in the City’s canyons and open space areas. Please visit the Ready, Set, Go! website at http://www.goo.gl/2r6Ya3 for more information on how you can prepare for a wildfire.
