HMPD Detectives Arrest Man for Vehicle Break-In.
On Tuesday, November 13, 2017 at approximately 6:30pm, Hope Mills Police Officers met with a victim who wanted to report items stolen from their vehicle. The victim told Officers that he was at Lowe’s on North Main Street around 2:30pm and while he was inside the store, someone took lawncare equipment and other items from the bed and toolbox of his pickup truck. The victim noticed the items missing once he returned home. The case was forwarded to the Hope Mills Police Detective Division for further investigation. During the course of their investigation, Detectives learned that Jack Allen Ellis, 25, of the 130 block of Buckhorn Lane, Raeford, was responsible for the theft. On Friday, December 1, 2017, Hope Mills Police Detectives arrested Ellis and transported him to the Cumberland County Detention Center where he was jailed under a $25,000 bond for the following charges and, other outstanding warrants for his arrest from other jurisdictions.

1 Felony Count of Possession of Stolen Goods
Detectives have reason to believe that Ellis is responsible for other crimes of this type in our area but, those crimes have not yet been reported to our agency.
