Chula Vista Police Investigating Possible Indecent Exposure Series

The Chula Vista Police Department is investigating a possible indecent exposure series. Since October 18th there have been at least four (4) separate cases in the same general area with a similar suspect and suspect vehicle description. The Family Protection Unit and the School Resource Officers Unit are leading the investigation and believe that other victims may be out there who haven’t reported their incident.

The suspect is described similarly in all four cases as a white male adult 40-50 years old, unshaven with shaggy or unkempt grayish or blond short hair. The suspect in all four cases is driving a smaller newer blue (one case said blue or gray) Ford or Toyota pick-up truck. One case said that they believed there were small flames or similar along the edge of the bed of the truck. Another described hooks or tie downs along the bed of the truck. One victim thought the license plate had a “4” in it. In all cases the victims are walking along the sidewalk and as they reach an intersection the suspect pulls up alongside the victim while masturbating. In one case the victim said the suspect shouted “hey” to get her attention. All victims were juvenile females.

All the crimes occurred in the afternoon, between 1:00pm and 4:00pm as the victims were walking on or near 4th Avenue (or nearby side streets) in the general area of Chula Vista High School. The 10-year old victim was walking from Vista Square Elementary, 540 G Street.

The Sweetwater Union High School and Chula Vista Elementary School District Administrations are aware and working closely with the Chula Vista Police Department. Both the Police Department and School Districts are also spreading the message to all potential victims to be aware of your surroundings, and do exactly as these victims did; remain calm, do not approach or communicate with the suspect, seek a place of safety right away, remember details about the suspect, and call 911 immediately. Whenever possible juveniles should walk in pairs or groups and have the knowledge and ability to call police (911) immediately.

If you have information on these crimes please contact the Chula Vista Police Department Family Protection Unit, Det. Kenneth Hicks at (619) 691-5188, or to remain anonymous call (619) 422-TIPS or visit the Help Us Solve a Crime Website at http://www.chulavistaca.gov/departments/police-department/programs/help-us-solve-a-crime to send an email tip.

Chula Vista Family Protection Unit Detectives are working with the victims to obtain a sketch for public release at a later time.
