Attempt murder suspect, Christopher Arenas, has been arrested.

IN CUSTODY

On 12/16/17 at approximately 2354 hours West Covina Police officers located the attempt murder suspect, Christopher Arenas, hiding behind the $3.99 Pizza Co. (2435 S. Azusa Ave. West Covina). Arenas initially ran from the police but was eventually found hiding in some bushes. He will be booked at West Covina Police Department.

DETAILS

On 12/14/17, at approximately 2350 hours, West Covina Police responded to a call of a burglary in progress on the 3000 block of Loggers Lane. During the investigation, it was learned the resident confronted the suspect inside the home. The suspect assaulted the resident and fled on foot. The resident sustained minor injuries to his face. A car was stolen from the parking lot near the Corner Tavern bar (3660 Nogales Street) and later located abandoned at Shadow Oak Park. Two more burglaries occurred on the 2400 block of Belinda Street, which is just north of Shadow Oak Park. In both instances the residents confronted the suspect. The suspect fled on foot, injuring himself in the process. We believe he attempted to steal a different car in the area but was unsuccessful. Officers conducted an extensive search but were unable to find the suspect. On 12/15/17 at approximately 0700 hours, officers received another call of a burglary in progress on the 3000 block of Cindy Street. The suspect broke into the home and assaulted the resident, a 68 year old female, and fled the location. The female was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

We believe the same suspect is responsible for the aforementioned crimes. Investigators have identified the suspect as Christopher Phillip Arenas DOB 11/03/77 Blk/Bro 5’09” 180 pounds (see the attached photograph). The suspect is on PRCS for vehicle theft and prior convictions for burglary, auto-theft, felon in possession of a firearm and parole violations. Arenas should be considered dangerous. Arenas is wanted for attempt murder, battery, burglary and auto-theft. The West Covina Police Department asks for anyone who sees Arenas to immediately call 911.
