Advisory

Drugs & Guns Off the Street

On 12/18/2017 at approximately 3:34pm and Anderson Police Officer was traveling on Factory Outlets Dr. when he observed a Toyota sedan following another vehicle with only a couple feet between them. The Toyota then almost rear ended the other vehicle when they reached the Round-A-Bout. Believing that the Toyota was following too close and in an unsafe manner the Officer conducted a traffic stop on the Toyota. As the vehicle was pulling over the driver flicked a lit cigarette out of the vehicle.

The Officer contacted the driver who was identified as Mark TOMS, 42, of Anderson. TOMS admitted to having a suspended driver’s license and advised that he was on probation. TOMS was confirmed to be on PRCS/ AB 109. TOMS advised the Officer that there were narcotics inside the vehicle. TOMS was detained for a search of the vehicle to be conducted.

K9 Chance was deployed in a narcotics search capacity and alerted to the presence of narcotics.

A search of the vehicle revealed that TOMS was in possession of methamphetamine with the intent to sell and a loaded pistol with the serial number removed. TOMS is a convicted felon and not allowed to possess firearms or ammunition.

Anderson Officers and SINTF Agents went to TOMS’ residence in Anderson to conduct a probation search. Inside the residence two more firearms, both with the serial numbers removed, more methamphetamine packaged for sales, marijuana packaged for sales, and other items related to the sales of narcotics were located. Charles RHODES, 41, of Anderson was found at the residence and was also in possession of methamphetamine for sales.

TOMS and RHODES were placed under arrest and booked into Shasta County Jail. TOMS is currently being held on numerous drug and weapons charges along with a PRCS violation hold. RHODES is being held on drug related charges.
