At approximately 10:46 AM, a witness reported a residential burglary occurring in the 1100 block of 18th Street, Manhattan Beach. The witness provided police with a description of the suspect vehicle and a traffic stop was initiated. The driver of the vehicle failed to yield and a pursuit ensued eastbound on Marine Avenue. During the pursuit, two suspects jumped out of the vehicle and ran towards a hotel in the 2400 block of Marine Avenue, Redondo Beach.
The suspect driver continued eastbound on Marine Avenue where he failed to stop for a red light at Prairie Avenue and collided with a vehicle traveling northbound on Prairie Avenue. Several people suffered injuries and were transported to local hospitals. The suspect was taken into custody and the Hawthorne Police Department is investigating the collision.
A search is currently underway for the two suspects that fled the vehicle in the 2400 block of Marine Avenue. If you observe suspicious activity in the area, please contact police dispatch at 9-1-1.
