Advisory

If you're out shoveling your sidewalk please disregard. If you haven't cleared you sidewalk, let's get to it.

Village code states that home owners must keep their sidewalks clear of snow or face a fine. Every winter more and more people are walking in the street in the village due to property owners not maintaining their sidewalks, which is not a safe way to traverse around.

§ 223-24
Cleaning of sidewalks.
[Amended 3-14-2006 by L.L. No. 1-2006]
Every owner or occupant of any dwelling, house, store, shop or other building, or of any vacant lot within said Village, shall keep the sidewalks in front of the premises so owned or occupied free from snow, ice, dirt or debris of any kind, and if such person shall neglect or refuse to remove the same from such sidewalk, the same shall be removed by the Village at the expense of such owner or occupant, such expense, when allowed by the Trustees, to be a lien upon such premises.
§ 223-25
Penalties for offenses.
[Added 9-11-1972; amended 1-7-1985 by L.L. No. 1-1985; 12-3-2001 by L.L. No. 7-2001; 3-14-2006 by L.L. No. 1-2006]
Violations of any of the provisions of this article shall be punishable by a fine of not more than $250 or by imprisonment for not more than 15 days, or both. Each day's continuance of a violation after notice shall be deemed a separate and distinct violation and shall be punishable accordingly.

If you are one that does maintain your sidewalks, THANK YOU!
