Rio Nido man wanted for assaulting a Deputy

At about 5:40 PM on Wednesday, December 27th Sonoma County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the 17000 block of Duncan Rd in the Guerneville area regarding three suspicious men.  The arriving deputy contacted one of the men who provided the deputy with a false name. After learning the individual’s correct name, the deputy also discovered the man, later identified as Larry Don Kygar of Rio Nido, had an outstanding felony warrant for violation of probation.
The deputy attempted to take Kygar into custody for the warrant but Kygar physically resisted the deputy by punching the deputy several times. The deputy fought back and deployed his Taser sending Kygar to the ground. The deputy being concerned about the other two men around him diverted his attention to them. Those men complied with the deputy’s orders but in that short amount of time, Kygar got up and ran away.

Several deputies, including a K-9 unit and Henry-One responded to the area and a perimeter was set up. After about an hour of searching the perimeter was broken down but deputies continued to patrol the area.

The deputy received minor scratches and cuts to his hands but will be fine.

A county wide bulletin has been issued for the arrest of Larry Don Kygar age 57. Kygar is described as being 5’-10” tall and 175lbs with brown hair and blue eyes. He is wanted for felony assault of a peace officer and an outstanding felony warrant for violation of probation.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts please contact the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Dispatch center at 565-2121.
