Arrest made in Stabbing. Vermillion Co Sheriff
Type of Case: Assault with deadly weapon. Date:12/31/2017 Time: 3:15 P.M. Location: Depot St. Perrysville, IN Investigating Officer: Vermillion County Deputy Chad Hennis Assisting Officers: Cayuga Town Marshal's, Indiana State Police, Fountain County Sheriff's Office, Parke County Sheriff's Office, Vermillion County EMS and Perrysville Fire and Rescue. Details: On December 31, 2017 Vermillion County Dispatch received a 911 call of a male subject who had been stabbed in the chest on Depot St. Perrysville, IN. Travis Butcher (40) of Perrysville was found in the kitchen of the residence with a stab wound to the lower left upper quadrant and was taken to Union Hospital Clinton and then transferred to Regional Hospital in Terre Haute. Butcher was treated and released from Regional Hospital the same evening. Officers had information on the suspect and several agencies assisted with apprehending Shaun Bacon (age 35) from Cayuga. Bacon was taken into custody at a residence on 8th St. in Cayuga and primarily charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon (Level 3 Felony) and is being held in the Vermillion County Jail with no bond pending initial hearing. The incident is still under investigation. *Under the Law, criminal charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. **Actual filing of charges for the state is done by the Prosecutor after review of the case information.
