Blizzard Warning until 01:00AM Friday

...MAJOR COASTAL STORM THURSDAY AND THURSDAY NIGHT... .Low pressure developing east of Florida today will rapidly intensify as it moves up the eastern seaboard to a position off the New England coast on Thursday and into the Canadian maritimes Thursday night. This storm has the potential to bring heavy snow and strong winds...especially to coastal sections of western Maine and New Hampshire where blizzard conditions are expected. Some uncertainty remains with regards to the exact track of this stay tuned to later updates. As this storm departs on Friday...bitterly cold air will arrive from Canada...along with strong northwesterly winds. ...BLIZZARD WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOON THURSDAY TO 1 AM EST FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Blizzard conditions expected. Travel will be very dangerous to impossible, including during the evening commute on Thursday. Tree branches could fall as well. Total snow accumulations of 9 to 12 inches are expected.

* WHERE...Coastal New Hampshire and coastal southwest Maine.

* WHEN...From noon Thursday to 1 AM EST Friday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Winds gusting as high as 50 mph will cause whiteout conditions in blowing snow. Significant drifting of the snow is likely. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Blizzard Warning means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring. Falling and blowing snow with strong winds and poor visibilities are likely.
