Blizzard Warning until 04:00AM Friday

...MAJOR COASTAL STORM THURSDAY AND THURSDAY NIGHT... .Low pressure developing east of the Carolinas this evening will rapidly intensify as it moves up the eastern seaboard to a position off the New England coast on Thursday and into the Canadian maritimes Thursday night. This storm is forecast to bring heavy snow and strong winds...especially to coastal sections of western Maine and New Hampshire where blizzard conditions are expected. As this storm departs on Friday...bitterly cold air will arrive from Canada...along with strong northwesterly winds. ...BLIZZARD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT FROM NOON THURSDAY TO 4 AM EST FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Blizzard conditions expected. Travel will be very dangerous to impossible, including during the evening commute on Thursday. Tree branches could fall as well. Total snow accumulations of 10 to 14 inches are expected.

* WHERE...Coastal portions of New Hampshire...southwest and Midcoast Maine.

* WHEN...From noon Thursday to 4 AM EST Friday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Winds gusting as high as 45 mph will cause whiteout conditions in blowing snow. Significant drifting of the snow is likely. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Blizzard Warning means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring. Falling and blowing snow with strong winds and poor visibilities are likely. This will lead to whiteout conditions, making travel extremely dangerous. Do not travel. If you must travel, have a winter survival kit with you. If you get stranded, stay with your vehicle.
