Hockley County Sheriff's Office calls for service and activities for Wednesday, 1/3/18.

Good Thursday morning! The following are calls for service and activities for the Sheriff’s Office for Wednesday, 1/3/18.

-1310 Avenue H, LEC: Assist Agency. Deputies met with law enforcement from Cochran County to return property recovered by deputies related to a burglary offense in Cochran County.

-100 blk Main, Ropesville: Theft of Service. A deputy was dispatched to take a report related to a theft of service. Information was collected and the incident is under investigation.

-100 blk Leon Rd, Smyer: Disturbance. Deputies responded to a residence in the area related to a complaint of individuals entering a house and moving things around. No offenses were reported and the area was placed on close patrol.

-FM 303 at Jamaica Rd, Pettit: Loose Livestock. A deputy was dispatched to the area to attempt to locate loose cattle. The area was checked and no loose cattle were located.

-1310 Avenue h, LEC: Child Custody Issue. A deputy met with a complainant regarding an issue involving child custody. Deputies assisted in trying to locate the child and it was determined the matter originated in Levelland. The complainant met with Levelland PD to file the reports. Sheriff’s Office personnel will continue to assist.

-100 blk Veretto Rd, Levelland: Disturbance. A deputy responded to a residence related to a verbal disturbance. All parties stated no offenses occurred and the argument was verbal only. Information was collected related to the incident.

-100 blk Lincoln, Smyer: Animal Complaint. A deputy was dispatched to the area to check status on several dogs. The dogs and the owner were located. The animals had food, water, and shelter. No offenses were observed or reported.

-1310 Avenue H, LEC: Harassment. A deputy contacted a complainant regarding possible harassment. The laws regarding harassment were explained and based on the information provided no offense has occurred. Remedies were provided to the complainant and information was collected related to the incident.

-500 blk FM 1490, Levelland: Alarm. A deputy was dispatched to an alarm at a residence in the area. The property was checked and the homeowner advised the activation was accidental.

-500 blk Sunrise Ln, Levelland: Suspicious Vehicle. A deputy responded to a residence related to a possible suspicious vehicle in the area. The matter was investigated and it was determined to be someone known to the property owners. No offenses were reported.

-US 62/82 at Foster Rd, Ropesville: Check Welfare. A deputy checked status on a vehicle stopped in the area. The driver and children waited in the patrol vehicle due to the vehicle being disabled and no heat. The vehicle was towed and the individuals were transported to a local business and met with family members.

Deputies also conducted close patrols/vacation watches, patrols in all areas of the county, investigative follow-up activities, and civil process service.

Jail population as of 1/4/18 at 0800 hours: 48 in Hockley County, 2 to be processed, 2 out of county.
