APD Arrests Man After Report of Shots Fired
On January 6, 2018, at about 9:30 PM officers with the Anderson Police Department responded to the 2900 block of Martha St. for a report of a subject firing a handgun inside a residence.
Officers responded to the scene and learned the suspect, Kevin Dale Gross, age 25, of Anderson, had fired two shots inside his residence after getting into an argument with his girlfriend. Gross left the scene prior to officers arrival and was reportedly on foot in the area, still armed with the handgun.
Officers conducted an area check for Gross and located him in the area of East St. and Ferry St. Gross attempted to elude officers by entering the Post Office. Gross then attempted to exit the back door of the Post Office, however he was confronted by two officers who placed him at gun point.
Gross complied with officers commands and was detained without further incident. A search of Gross revealed him to no longer be in possession of the firearm.
Officers conducted a search of the bushes in the area Gross was found. Officers located the still loaded .22 caliber handgun in the bushes of a nearby business.
Gross was placed under arrest for negligently discharging a firearm within a residence, grand theft, possession of a loaded firearm within an incorporated city, and possession of a firearm within a school zone.
Gross was booked into the Shasta County Jail.
