On January 09, 2018, at 4:10 A.M., officers from the Moreno Valley Police Department responded to a report of a major injury traffic collision on Iris Avenue west of Oliver Street, in the city of Moreno Valley.

Officers from the Moreno Valley Police Department, Moreno Valley Fire Department personnel and AMR Paramedics arrived within minutes and discovered a vehicle had collided with a tree. After the vehicle collided with the tree, the vehicle caught fire. Once the fire was extinguished, the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was found deceased inside the vehicle. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in this collision.

Members of the Moreno Valley Traffic Reconstruction Team responded and are investigating this collision. Eastbound and westbound Iris Avenue were closed between Kaiser Hospital and Oliver Street during this investigation, and reopened about 9:40 A.M.
